Ok so I've been wanting to start a blog for a place to house my random thoughts. Lord knows I have a lot of them. I figure the title speaks for itself for those of you who know me well. I love a wig, what can I say? I have quite a few, and the collection seems to be growing. Who knew there would be so many justifiable excuses for a new one. Birthdays, friend's birthdays, holidays, more birthdays, concerts, Halloween...this list goes on. The beauty of that is that I seem to have gotten a friend or two addicted. Therefore, we enable each other. Works out well for both of us, not so well for our checkbooks, but that's another story.
Also seeing how the term wig out can be used, I thought it only appropriate for my random thoughts. With that said, let's see how this first post turns out.
First of all, I cannot believe Christmas has come and gone so fast. I typically LOVE the holidays. I cannot wait to put up a tree and decorate the house. This was our first Christmas in our new house as well as our first "married" Christmas (I heard that a lot with the well-wishing co-workers. Makes me laugh because it isn't the first Christmas we have spent together and being married didn't have much effect. We already had a routine.) Ok, I digress. Nonetheless, I was so NOT into it this year. Well sort of. I wanted the tree, I wanted the outside lights. But I didn't want to do it. It was a chore. I was hellbent on getting a tree the day we went and of course, the selection wasn't that great. I refused to wait. I had to have the damn tree. Now I feel like we got Charlie Brown's tree, which I already have. It was given to me as a gift last year. It's not totally horrible. One or two of the branches had broken so one side is fuller than the other. I felt that there was no good angle to place it so I just went with it. On goes the lights and ribbon. Then on to the ornaments. Here's where I get ugh. I have NO ornaments. Well I have some, but I wanted like twice as many. On a budget, can't go crazy. Must not buy ornaments until they go on sale after Christmas. Ok fine. Did I shop for post Christmas sales...no. We'll see what happens next year. And then there is the fur. Little (by that I mean 14 pounds) Beignet. He lovers a Christmas tree. Best thing since catnip as far as he's concerned. Surprisingly, he only broke one ornament. He does like the ribbon but he just plays with it. Thankfully, he hasn't ruined any of it. As far as I know anyway. He does enjoy eating the needles from the tree and drinking the water out of it. He has his own bowl but apparently it isn't good enough.
I can only assume I felt this way because we went from wedding day to honeymoon, to holidays. I usually start shopping at the end of the summer. I had to wait until the last week of November. I felt like the Grinch this year. Now don't get me wrong, we had a very nice first "married" Christmas. It was just a whirlwind. Looking on the bright side, NYE is this weekend along with my birthday and then Mardi Gras. Ah, the beauty of living around NOLA. Always an excuse to party. Always and excuse to wig.
I look forward to reading about your hair-raising adventures.
